Thermostat products from Fenwal are available for most temperature control applications. The Snap Disc thermostat is a high precision, rugged thermostat. The Snap Disk thermostat comes in four configurations: Surface mount, high temperature surface mount, high temperature probe and low temperature probe type.

The Fenwal THERMOSWITCH ® is a "strut and tube" type thermostat comprised of 2 basic parts: the outer shell, made of high expanding metal, and the strut assembly, made of low expanding metal. A pair of electrical contacts is mounted and installed in the shell of the thermostat under tension or compression. A net change in force is produced on the low expanding strut assembly as the high expanding shell expands or contracts with changing temperature. The temperature at which the contacts "make" or "break" can be regulated by a temperature-adjusting sleeve.

The Fenwal Surface Mount THERMOSWITCH ® thermostat is also based on the differential expansion of metals principle. An increase in temperature causes the stainless steel outer case of the surface-mounting thermostat to expand at a greater rate than the internal bridge assembly. Because the case is in direct contact with the heated surface, the thermostat senses a temperature change almost instantaneously. An increase in temperature causes the case to expand, resulting in a linear change of the internal bridge assembly thus causing the electrical contacts to open. A decrease in temperature causes the contacts to close
